The Revolt of 1857, also known as the Sepoy Mutiny, Indian Mutiny, or the First War of Independence. In Indian history it was an important event . This rebellion began as a mutiny of sepoys in Meerut on 10 May 1857. In various places like Meerut, Delhi, Agra, Kanpur, and Lucknow this war takes place.
This is an unsuccessful revolt against British rule in india but ultimately a first significant attempt by Indians to overthrow British colonial domination.
